Most Tottenham fans had already gotten used to the idea that Harry Redknapp was off, cap in hand to the FA in the Summer, and saw that maybe as the long-term benefit of having their season derailed by the speculation in the press.
With the knowledge that Redknapp was on his way, it’s become quite fashionable down the Lane to apportion the blame for the side’s capitulation to the manger – and maybe fairly.
Redknapp is like the wife that tried to run off with the next door neighbour, only to be jilted at the last-minute. Now the fans, the hurt husband, have to forget the infidelity and reopen the house doors. It’s going to be uneasy for a while.
Analysed and learnt from, this season could actually be very useful for Tottenham and Redknapp. Frailties and deficiencies have been brutally exposed beyond, club legends have been shown to be mortal, and the manager’s approach to certain situations has been shown to be extremely naïve.
One positive is that those players who are loyal to Redknapp, which is most of them, now no longer have a question mark over their future. Gareth Bale just became a lot more likely to be a Tottenham player next season, as did Rafa Van der Vaart. Luka Modric? Honestly, who cares – most fans would take the big bag of cash over the Croatian playmaker given how he’s acquitted himself over the last six months.
Learn and grow, that’s Redknapp’s mantra for the next couple of months. He’ll be hurting inside from the FA’s snub, and that could be very energising – here’s a chance to use his, still very talented, Tottenham team to make a point to David Bernstein et al.
Maybe the fans might get something out of this process after all.

I agree with most of this article. However, rednapp needs to go. I only see a downhill sla-lam from here. Review breifly next seaon. Chelsea revitalised, Citeh and united buying the best and Arsenal already sounding their intentions by buying poldolski. So onto closer, truer rivals. The scousers will be hot on tottenham next season and the Toon will be revving up having overdone themselves this term. So given the inadequacies a lot of Spurs fans knew about rednapp and that the rest have now seen. I reckon Bale will be looking for pastures new. So will Modric (love or hate him) our best player for two seasons. VDV dreaming of playing in holland where his undoubted skill will be admired rather than watching him get dragged off every week coz rednapps a fool. We have already got Saha, parker and Nelson and I dare say a lot more players of that ilk coming to spurs. Ramos god bless him was the best thing that happened to spurs. He had the balls to rid spurs of deadwood now rednapp is filling us up with it. He has been found wanting in nearly every department. And as we’ve seen, is ready to dump spurs at the drop of a hat. I hope and pray the rumour abramovic wants him is true. Before we end up with joe cole, drogba and any other aging player looking ofr a last ditch payout. Trust me, no trophies for spurs. There will be no qualifying for the Camps league and none of the promises so called super stars. Other teams are already announcing top signings. We need to get rid of so many it’s not funny. Jenas, bentley,Gio,dawson,Croluka,Kranjcar, Rose,Livermore,Saha, Nelsen and Defoe..Why? No not because I don’t rate them but because they are surplus to requirements. Rednapp wont use em more than twice a year. Levy says sell before you buy but rednapp can’t. He had shedloads of players at southampton and pompey too many and kept em til their worth ran out or they ran off on a bosman. Personally I can stomach any of the managers touted, rodgers, martinez even benitez. At least they’re someone you can respect, trust even. I doubt they’d ever be seen on national TV telling an interviewer to F off I aint no wheeler dealer? Yep and some people expected him to get the England Job..I just wanted him to go..anywhere.
Sorry Harry, from what has been done at crucial times during big games, you have shown to not be the man to take us forward! Please all Tottenham fans take stock of this. last season around the same times,the same type of performances had been produced under Harry, and last season he blamed champions league with one of the best squads or top 3 squads in the premiership!! there was no England management possibility to be concerned about! yet same thing happened ! if we as Tottenham fans really want consistent and definite premiership Title within two years, theres only one candidate, who trust me, will deliver in that time frame with our resources as they are, and who would be within the clubs budget, and also has something to prove over here ! and that man is Fabio Capello !!!! heres a man, who where ever he has gone has won the title, and he has already stated that he wants to manage a club like Tottenham and stay in England! I beg of you Mr Levy, if you really really want to see all your hard work to make Tottenham great again!! at the right time of the new stadium, this is your man , sitting waiting for you! no disrespect to Harry, but not only he has taken us as far as he can, I believe , but also just certain aspects of his management has alot to be desired, team selection, squad rotation, buying and selling players! if his real thing is motivating then as i said two season running when it was desperately needed, he was found wanting ! so no more pitty patty managers, like the ones already mentioned, its got to be the one and only Mr FABIO CAPELLO !! PLEASE!!
