Honourable mentions this week go to Martin Skrtel, David De Gea, and Romelu Lukaku, all of whom earned their team points, but just miss out on selection. People will remember Skrtel’s glaring error at the end of yesterday’s game, but what shouldn’t be forgotten is quite how good he was for the rest of it. De Gea is in a similar situation: several quite brilliant saves, but his case for inclusion was undermined by the part he played in Nemanja Vidic’s own goal. And Romelu Lukaku? Had he been playing from the start, then his hugely physical and destructive performance against Tottenham would have been enough to earn the Baggies three points and Nikica Jelavic’s place in the team.
