Younes Belhanda is a bit of sore topic in France, as pundits and writers debate why more effort wasn’t made to integrate the now Moroccan international into the French national set-up. France’s loss looks like it will very much be North Africa’s gain.
The Metro this morning has Liverpool taking an active interest in the attacking-midfielder, and Kenny Dalglish has supposedly been to see the Montpellier player in person over the last couple of weeks.
It’s amazing how much more exciting your transfer targets can become once Damien Comolli has been shunted out of your club, isn’t it?
As with any promising players based in France, Arsenal have already registered an interest, so Dalglish could have his work cut out in bringing Belhanda to Anfield. However, the value of doing that can’t really be understated; his eleven goals and four assists this season are a big reason as to why Montpellier are top of Ligue 1 and heading for the Championship, and he would add something really special to Liverpool – an unpredictable quality that they’re desperately in need of.
