Early Morning Notes: Glenn Hoddle, England, International Highlights.

– Some potentially polarising comments from Ray Wilkins this morning, who believes that Glenn Hoddle should be a candidate to succeed Fabio Capello as England manager.

“I don’t suppose [Harry Redknapp] is the only candidate. One that would come off my tongue is Glenn Hoddle. He did a wonderful job before and he’s far more experienced now so it would be interesting.”

People forget how well England actually performed under Hoddle, but unfortunately his reign will forever be stained by his comments to Matt Dickinson. We live in risk-averse times, and the FA would rather England lost than endure the PR headache that Hoddle would bring.
