Spare a thought for Lille fans: their side has been gutted over recent years. They’ve lost Eden Hazard, Yohan Cabaye, and Moussa Sow, and this Summer Mathieu Debuchy looks set to be the latest departure from a club who were French Champions in 2010/11.
Debuchy has been long-expected to move to Newcastle at the end of Euro 2012 as an upgrade to Danny Simpson, but The Mirror has the full-back appearing on Chelsea’s radar this morning.
There’s very little in the way of hard fact within that article, but the logic seems to be that the Frenchman would represent better value for money than Ajax’s Gregory Van Der Wiel – which is probably accurate given the respective performances of both players in Poland and Ukraine over the last week.
Debuchy, as with every modern full-back, is very comfortable going forward and is arguably a better defender than Van Der Wiel – or Chelsea incumbent Jose Bosingwa. That being said, Debuchy didn’t look all that secure against England’s left-side in Donetsk on Monday evening – so maybe Chelsea should keep looking.
It’s the usual space-filling rumour from The Mirror, so probably don’t base any season-ticket purchases around it…
William Hill are betting in-running on all the games in the European Championships – get involved here. And claim your free £25 for signing-up while you’re at it. A double on Poland and Russia tonight returns £95 off that £25.
If the weak legs are to vacate the stanford bridge, maluda should not been forgotten
Please CFC go and sign right full back of Czech Republic Gebre Selassie instead of Debuchy. The guy is a very good and fine player.KTBFFH
Boswinga has been sacked by Chelsea along with Anelka, Alex, Drogba, Ferriera and Kalou and probably also Malouda and Essien soon with more to follow.
