Tottenham supposedly close to Hugo Lloris

The Premier League Owl

Credit to Goal.com for this, as they appear to be the first with the story that Tottenham are negotiating with Lyon over goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Lyon Chairman Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed last week that the player would be allowed to leave Stade Gerland if the right opportunity came along, and it seems as if Spurs’ fit that description. Given Aulas’ famously robust negotiating techniques – a French Daniel Levy if you will – there may still be some way to go before this can be considered close to happening.

25 years-old and the undisputed first-choice for France, Lloris would be an outstanding addition for Andre Villas-Boas to, what is already looking like, an extremely strong Tottenham side for next season. Putting Lloris in behind a defence of Kyle Walker, Younes Kaboul, Jan Vertonghen, and Benoit Assou-Ekotto would add up to a very solid defensive unit indeed. The Frenchman belongs in that elite group of European goalkeepers with Iker Casillas, Manuel Neuer, and Gianluigi Buffon – so you can fully understand Tottenham’s eagerness to bring him to White Hart Lane.

Incidentally, the perceived interest from Arsenal has turned out to be nothing – the player was quoted last week as saying that he’d had no knowledge of any interest from Arsene Wenger. Logically so, too, because given what’s going on in the attacking third of Wenger’s team at the moment, he’s got other fish to fry – and, obviously, he also has a very capable, and young, incumbent goalkeeper in Wojciech Szczcesny.

I don’t understand why would Arsenal bid for Hugo Lloris???? They already got young talented prospect goalkeeper Wojciceh Szczcesny. I would be happy if we signed him because Brad is getting old he would be a perfect replacement. But remember this is just rumours/speculation from Goal.com it’s not player/club statement………… But I hope it’s true.
