Have a read of this sentence from a Daily Mail article today:
‘Newcastle have won the race to sign France midfielder Moussa Sissoko ahead of a number of their Premier League rivals.’
…and then compare it with this, the very next sentence:
‘The 23-year-old’s deal at Toulouse expires at the end of the season and he is free to sign a pre-contract agreement from January 1.’
Not to be pedantic, but that’s kind of a contradiction – wouldn’t you say? Newcastle haven’t ‘won’ anybody’s signature, because clubs are not open to negotiate with players until six months prior to the expiration of a contract, that’s how the Bosman ruling works.
‘Sissoko is believed to have already committed himself to the Toon despite interest from Spurs, Liverpool, Everton and Fulham.’
Again, probably not true, players cannot ‘commit’ themselves before that six-month period either.
Another strong day for The Mail. Regardless, here’s some video of Sissoko…
