What is this about?
Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa is will likely complete his move to Newcastle today or tomorrow – supposedly he just has a medical to complete – and in reaction to that, Louis Nicollin who is President of his current club Montpellier, has had a little bit to say:
“It was agreed he [Mbiwa] could leave if he found a club he finds interesting, we are not going to cry. His head is not with Montpellier – but it does not matter, he is not irreplaceable.
I think his agent has a lot to do with Mapou. If he is an ass, that is not my fault – but I think his agent has much to do with this.
As for Newcastle, this really is not a good choice – he will re-transfer next year, his move does not bother me.”

Isn’t this a bit like when your girlfriend leaves you and you start trashing her and her new boyfriend to everyone who will listen.
Nobody knows the ins-and-outs of this transfer, and while I understand the frustration of losing a player, this doesn’t reflect well on Nicollin – it’s just unprofessional to make comments about another club. Who Mapou joins is really his business, and beyond accepting the financial terms, it has very little to do with Montpellier or their President.
You’re not ‘going to cry about it’? Sorry Louis, but it sounds very much like you are.
