There’s a rumour doing the rounds about Joe Cole potentially ending his relatively pointless stay on Merseyside with a move to Russian club Spartak Moscow.
It’s a mark of how irrelevant Cole is at Anfield that the default response to hearing that is…indifference.
Pre-season, it seemed as if Cole might be given new life under Brendan Rodgers, given that he is a natural fit for the manager’s pass-heavy system. Not so much, and he’s set to be every bit as much of a pariah as he was when Kenny Dalglish was manager.
From Liverpool’s perspective, isn’t it just about getting him off the wage bill now?
Had Cole made a footballing decision after leaving Chelsea rather than a financial one, he may very well still be involved in the England set-up – but as it is he’s coming dangerously close to an affliction of ‘Wayne Bridge syndrome’. Far too comfortable on his contract.
Is he going to Russia? Who knows – do you really care? If he does, then it just shows that Spartak’s technical department have been busy watching Chelsea reruns on ESPN Classic.

Well, for joe cole one should really read andy Carroll! As both these players were/are in the same position, ie both not loved both not wanted.both were in the same position and both had the same choices to make. Only difference being instead of both taking up the golden opportunity to join west ham cole chose money(France ) and then rotting in the stand where as Carroll chose to reinvent himself and save his england carear!
