This isn’t just a novelty pick, Christian Eriksen has the potential to score an awful lots of fantasy points this season, and should he be the missing piece in the Tottenham midfield, his £8m price-tag will look very generous indeed by May.
Most of you will already know what the Dane is capable of, and those who didn’t prior to his transfer will have had plenty of time to YouTube his back-catalogue – basically, he’s an old fashioned play-maker with an eye for a pass and a fondness for shooting from outside the box: he’ll create chances and he’ll score a decent number of goals. Traditionally, those are always strong fantasy football attributes for a midfielder to have – and when you combine them with some of the talent Spurs have around him – Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado et al – he could be a very shrewd purchase.
On the basis that Mousa Dembele was a very awkward fit in the advanced midfield role during the North London derby, and Lewis Holtby isn’t yet match-fit, Eriksen should have a clear run at the starting-eleven for this Saturday – and, given how good a player he can be, he might be very difficult to dislodge once he’s there.
